Our 2026–2027 group-class pathway provides a complete, carefully sequenced programme for 7+ and 8+ candidates – from early skill-building to final exam readiness. Each phase builds purposefully on the last, enabling children to grow in confidence, mastery, independence, and examination technique at a manageable, meaningful pace.
Across the year, pupils benefit from:

The programme is led by Matthew Greenaway, founder of Ready Set Prep, together with highly experienced prep/ pre-prep school teachers and interview specialist Lucy Watts, whose insight into selective school processes offers invaluable preparation for the months ahead.

February Half-Term: Monday 16 – Friday 20 February 2026
This introductory phase establishes strong foundations for 7+ (Year 1) and 8+ (Year 2) candidates, helping pupils transition gently into more formal learning expectations.
Focus:
Core English: composition, comprehension, grammar, dictation
Mathematics: mental fluency, formal methods, practical problem-solving
Structured verbal and non-verbal reasoning
Early exam-technique awareness and confidence-building
Goal: To develop independence, secure early skills, and prepare pupils for more intensive progression at Easter.
Led by: Matthew Greenaway and an experienced prep school teacher.

Easter Break 2026
Week 1: Tuesday 7 April – Friday 10 April
Week 2: Monday 13 April – Friday 17 April
A two-part programme designed to accelerate progress.
Week 1: Deep Foundations
Strengthening English fundamentals
Building fluency and reasoning in Maths
Structured reasoning tasks across VR and NV
Week 2: Exam Strategy & Application
Integration of past papers
Timed exercises and stamina-building
Introduction to strategic written responses
Interview Preparation: Lucy Watts begins gentle interview coaching, introducing early techniques for 7+ callbacks and 8+ awareness.

May Half-Term: Monday 25 – Friday 29 May 2026
A mid-year check-in to reinforce progress and refine exam behaviour.
Activities include:
Mixed timed papers across English, Maths, and reasoning
Targeted drills to secure formal skills
Confidence-building activities to develop resilience and independence
This phase ensures children remain on pace and secure ahead of the intensive summer period.

Special Feature: End-of-summer 7+ mock exams, including full written feedback and a parent consultation to support planning for the months ahead.

This final phase ensures 8+ candidates reach peak performance for January assessments.

Full-length mock exams under timed conditions
Consolidation of key Maths and English skills
Past paper refinement
Intensive interview preparation with Lucy Watts
Additional one-day workshops run in early January, tailored to the real experiences of recent candidates and designed to support last-minute callbacks and assessment rounds.
