This mid‑year programme strengthens core skills, reinforces exam behaviour, and builds confidence for pupils preparing for the 7+ and 8+. Phase 3 acts as a crucial consolidation point, ensuring children remain secure, steady, and on pace ahead of the more intensive summer period.

Who It’s For

  • 7+ Group: Current Year 1 pupils

  • 8+ Group: Current Year 2 pupils

Two parallel groups run throughout each week, taught by experienced teachers with deep insight into selective school expectations. Pupils rotate teachers daily for balance, variety, and broader expertise.

Programme Structure

Phase 3: Consolidation & Confidence

A structured week designed to reinforce progress and refine exam behaviour.

Activities include:

Mixed timed papers across English, Maths, and reasoning

  • Targeted drills to secure formal skills

  • Confidence‑building activities to develop resilience and independence

  • Guided review of errors to strengthen accuracy and exam habits

This phase ensures children remain secure and consistent before entering the high‑challenge summer period.

What the Course Includes

English:

  • Composition refinement

  • Comprehension accuracy

  • Grammar and sentence control

  • Dictation and spelling under time pressure

Mathematics:

  • Mental maths fluency

  • Formal written methods

  • Problem‑solving with increasing complexity

  • Timed practice to build stamina

Reasoning:

  • VR and NV techniques

  • Pattern recognition

  • Speed and accuracy development

Exam Technique:

  • Managing time effectively

  • Working with confidence

  • Building independence and resilience

A teaching assistant supports both groups, ensuring individual attention and a calm, caring environment.
